Good exotic pet that's legal in Indiana for my cirstances?

I would like a pet that can, first of all, get along with my yorkshire terrior. I also have 11 acres of land, with a good size fences off with an 5 foot high fence. My house is quite large, and everything is pretty-large pet proof, though I don't want something that large. I was thinking maybe a hedgehog or a sugar-glider? I don't plan on any kids for at least 10-14 years, since I am a college student.
