Pending transactions? Am I in the clear?

Recently I made a transaction on a credit card (BOA, or Bank of America) and for the past few days I checked my account from time to time, to see if it made the jump from pending to approved or whatnot. It didn't, so I decided to check my account again this morning and I saw that it disappeared. I did ask a person through their online chat function and they told me I would not be charged the amount the transaction was for. So, I guess my question is, am I in the clear since the transaction fell through, or will this lost amount come back to haunt me later on?
