What animal should I get?

My mom finally agreed to let me get another pet. What should I get? I like furry animals, but I also enjoy reptiles and amphibians. I have 3 dogs already, so it has to be compatible with them, or at least tolerant. I want an original pet, something you wouldn't expect to see in the average household, but it still has to be able to live in my home, so nothing that needs a ton of space. I can give it about 4 square feet in my room at the most. In about 5 years I will be going to collage, so it would have to be something I could either take with me or, sadly, will be gone before I graduate high school. I was looking into sugar gliders, but they can cost as much as $200, and that would be at the high end of my price range, and I don't know if my mother is willing to pay that much for the animal alone. Difficulty isn't an issue, I am experienced with pet care. If possible, I would like it to be something I could take outdoors and interact with on a regular basis. Any ideas? Thanks.
